The RennSport Wheel Stand holds your racing wheel and pedals in place while you tear down the final stretch of Indianapolis Motor Speedway, or wherever your racing titles bring you.

As anyone who has ever attempted to use one can attest, the main problem with realistic racing wheels and pedals for video games comes down to where to mount them. Nobody likes it when the table gets knocked over and the pedals skid out from underneath you in the heat of racing action. To that end, German peripheral developer Fanatec has developed its own solution: the RennSport Wheel Stand.

Designed for gamers who play console racing games from the couch or other seated positions, the Fanatec stand locks the steering wheel into a sturdy pedestal and the pedals onto a solid, non-slip base, allowing anxious racers to stomp, slam and spin their racing hardware ‘til heart’s content.  It’s steel and aluminum design also adjusts for the proper wheel angle, height, and pedal position.

“The RennSport Wheel Stand is a strategic product that solves the fundamental dilemma of the racing fan,” said Thomas Jackermeier, CEO of Fanatec’s parent company, Endor AG. “Our stand makes playing racing games with a racing wheel much more realistic and fun.”

 The RennSport stand will debut in the United States for $130 on October 30. It will function with any of Fanatec’s own racing wheels, as well as those from Logitech and Microsoft. Fanatec also plans to release an optional accessory mount for shifters, and a racing seat, in mid 2009.
