Penguin Panic Malware For PCs
September 18, 2008 | by Christopher Nickson
A popular iPhone game is being spammed to put a Trojan on PCs — but, ironically, not Macs or iPhones.
Penguin Panic has been a popular game for the iPhone, although it’s not being sold by Apple’s iPhone App Store. In it, users have to get the penguin to jump from iceberg to iceberg.
Now Penguin Panic has emerged for the PC, not as a game, but as a vehicle for spreading a Trojan, according to security company Sophos. Ironically, perhaps, no versions have been launched for either the Mac or iPhone.
It comes in a spam mail with several different heading, and contains a zip file. Anyone opening the file will find their machine infected with troj/agent-hny Trojan downloader.
