Verizon Goes Batty with Dark Knight Phone

Looking for a Caped Crusader tie-in? Verizon Wireless is offering the Nokia 6205 Dark Knight Edition with a 1.3 megapixel camera and a "subtle" Dark Knight emblem.

Verizon Wireless has announced an exclusive tie-in with this summer's The Dark Knight Batman sequel due to hit theaters July 18: the Nokia 6502 The Dark Knight Edition mobile phone. The phone combines a Batman-inspired black cover with a Dark Knight emblem, and comes pre-loaded with Bat-themed wallpaper, screensavers, and voice tones…along with a complete movie trailer.

As a phone, the Nokia 6205 offers 58 MB of internal storage (expandable with microSD cards), a 1.3 megapixel camera, a Bluetooth wireless networking, and an integrated speakerphone. The phone can tap into Verizon's VZ Navigator location and directions services, and users can buy games through Verizon's Get It Now service for ringtones, wallpapers, and games. The phone is Web-capable, and offers text, picture, and video messaging capabilities.

The Nokia 6205 The Dark Knight Edition will be available (online only!) for $69.99 after a $50 instant rebate, so long as customers sign up for a two-year service plan. Once The Dark Knight hits theaters, blue- and silver editions of the 6205 (sans Bat logo) will be available through Verizon retail locations.
