Microsoft Closing Windows Live Expo
June 09, 2008 | by Christopher Nickson
Microsoft has announced that it will close its classified ad site, Windows Live Expo, on July 31, leaving the filed open for Cragislist.
Two years ago, seeing the success of online classified site Craigslist, Microsoft created Windows Live Expo. It hasn’t been a world-shaking success, and now the company has decided to close its doors on July 31, according to a Reuters report.
“All current listings will remain on expo.live.com until they expire," a notice on the site said. "We thank you for your patronage and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."
Opening in February 2006, it never really gained traction against classified giant Craigslist, which remains the giant of the classifieds business, with local classifieds for over 500 cities around the globe. eBay operates a similar service, Kijiji.
