Craigslist Scammers Arrested

April 03, 2008 | by Christopher Nickson

After an Oregon man finds his possessions taken, the people behind the Craigslist ad that caused it are caught.

You have to feel for poor Robert Salisbury. As reported last week, he returned home from work to find people making off with possessions from his Oregon property. They thought it was quite legit, thanks to an ad placed on the online classifieds site Cragislist. That’s not to mention the problems he encountered when he tried to stop them.

But an ad was the cause of it all, and the couple who placed it have been found and charged.

Brandon and Amber Herbert have been arrested and charged with computer crime offenses and theft. It transpires that Amber Herbert placed the ad to cover up the fact that they’d stolen three saddles from Salisbury’s property.

Police and Craigslist staff worked together the find the offenders. Unfortunately, very little of the property taken from Salisbury has yet been returned, in spite of police threats.
