Mass Effect Headed to PC in May

February 12, 2008 | by Nick Mokey

BioWare's action-RPG for the Xbox 360 will slide on over to PCs in spring, bringing a few changes made especially for the platform.

PC gamers hungry for the sci-fi action game their console brethren have had since November will finally get their turn to play in May, according to Mass Effect developer BioWare. The company announced its future intention to release the ported title on Tuesday, along with a list of changes the game will see on the PC platform.

Mass Effect on PC will feature more highly detailed textures, characters and environments to take advantage of more sophisticated hardware, along with controls that have been revamped for the mouse and keyboard. The PC version will also feature hot-key mapping for biotic powers and skills, a new decryption mini game, and a new inventory screen GUI and functionality which should make it easier for players to manage weapons and armor.

Microsoft will help publish Mass Effect for PC, an arrangement BioWare parent company Electronic Arts says we’re likely to see for all future Mass Effect titles.
