InTempo Launches DAB-Enabled iPod Dock
December 14, 2007 | by Nick Mokey
The RDI iPod dock comes with support for Digital Audio Broadcasting, a way of receiving high-quality digital audio over the air.
Peripheral-maker Intempo unveiled a new iPod speaker dock recently with a twist: integrated Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) radio.
The gloss-black RDI features 30 watts of output, an integrated subwoofer, a remote control, adjustable bass and treble, an FM tuner, and of course, DAB compatibility. DAB is a format for broadcasting high-quality 192 kbps digital audio over the air. While mainly used in Europe, stations also exist in Canada, Australia, Singapore and other countries.
“The RDI is high quality audio; it is the only model on the market at this price point with tweeters, bass and treble control, operated manually or via the remote,” said Intempo’s marketing manager Katie Richards, in a statement.
The RDI supports all iPod models (but cannot charge the Shuffle) and sells for £129.99 at a variety of UK retailers.
