Fujitsu's LifeBook S6510 aims to keep travelers happy with a 14-inch widescreen display, Core 2 Duo processors, and a total weight of 3.7 pounds.

Fujitsu keeps rolling out new LifeBook configurations, today announcing a new LifeBook S6510 ultra-portable notebook, featuring 14-inch widescreen display and thinner, lighter components bringing the unit's total weight down to 3.7 pounds.

"Fujitsu is known for delivering cutting edge mobile computers and is focused on providing solutions for everyday use that can pass the test of the traveling executive," said Fujitsu's director of mobile product marketing Paul Moore, in a statement. "The LifeBook S6510 notebook delivers maximum display real estate in an exceedingly small footprint and eliminates the need to compromise weight for the advantages of a full-sized screen."

The LifeBook S6510s are available with a choice of three Core 2 Duo processors (2.0, 2.2, and 2.5 GHz) and ship with either Windows Vista Business or Windows XP Professional. The units feature a 14.1-inch 1280 by 800-pixel LED backlit display driven by Intel'sGMA X4100 graphics controller. The S6510s support up to 4 GB of RAM, are available with hard drives driving from 40 to 120 GB, and can be equipped with either a combo DVD/CD-RW drive or a dual-layer DVD burner. The units also feature gigabit Ethernet, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, optional Bluetooth, three USB 2.0 ports, S-Video output, a 4-pin IEEE 1394 connector, a docking port, an external monitor port, and support for one PCMCIA I/II card and a Memory Stick/SD/xD card slot. A fingerprint reader is also available, and the S6510s ship with a port replicator.

Prices range from $1,529 for a 2.0 GHZ edition with 1 GB of RAM, CD-RW drive, and no Bluetooth to $2,519 for a fully tricked-out model with a fingerprint reader, 4 GB of RAM, and all the goodies.

Folks looking for something a little heftier might want to look at the 14-inch Fujitsu LifeBook S7210, also announced today, which weighs 5.2 pounds, but offers a modular bay that can accommodate an additional battery for up to 6.5 hours of operating time.
