Panasonic Unveils Lumix DMC-L1

Panasonic's newest digital camera is also their first interchangeable lens digital SLR.
Panasonic over the weekend unveiled the Lumix DMC-L1, their first interchangeable lens digital SLR camera. No pricing or availability information was given. The Lumix DMC-L1, said Panasonic, is the fruit of joint labors between them and Olympus. Developed with the Four Thirds System standard for interchangeable lens type digital SLR cameras, this new Panasonic model reportedly "combines the operating feel of an analog camera with...ease-of-use features that are unique to digital cameras". Features of the DMC-L1 will include a shutter speed dial on the camera body and an aperture ring on the lens barrel, displaying of the image on the 2.5" LCD directly from the 4/3-type Live MOS sensor, a newly developed image processing LSI which is tied to the Live MOS sensor, a supersonic vibration system to reduce dust inside the camera and compatibility with SD memory cards.
