Sony today rolled out two new digital cameras which they say bring "added performance and eye-catching design" to their line up. The new DSC-W30 is priced at around $230 and should be available this month, while the DSC-W50 will price at around $250 when it becomes available in early March.

Features in common on the DSC-W30 and DSC-W50, said Sony, include eye-level viewfinders, six-megapixel image resolution, high-light sensitivity up to ISO 1000, Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 3x optical zoom lenses, 32MB of internal memory and optional memory expansion via Memory Stick Duo cards. The DSC-W30 comes in silver with a two-inch LCD, while the DSC-W50 has a 2.5" LCD and is wrapped in a metal-alloy body with etching and details.

"These new models will be attractive to people who prefer the look and feel of a traditional camera, but without the bulk," said James Neal, director of digital imaging products at Sony Electronics, in a statement. "We've also increased the light sensitivity, which minimizes the need for flash photography, and improved the cameras' user interface for better photography results and overall camera experience."
